DANVILLE, Va. – Danville welcomed baseball back to town Tuesday as General Manager Austin Scher announced the naming of the Otterbots. The name was chosen because of the many aspects of the area that have been incorporated in the team’s logo.

The name Otterbots was derived from themes the team heard in conversations with fans and represents the playfulness of the otter and the significance of STEM education and new industry across the Southside. It was one of many monikers considered as part of a name submission contest.

Scher thanked city officials for welcoming the team to town and said he looks forward to a successful season with many more to follow.
