DANVILLE, Va. – With more money in the city’s coffers from a proposed casino operation, City Manager Ken Larking has been able to hold the line on tax increases.

Larking presented his proposed budget to Danville City Council this week. The plan calls for funding for a regional park along the Dan River and money for a local director of tourism. Also included is $2.4 million to build an upgraded track at George Washington High School.

With additional revenue coming into the city from Caesar’s Entertainment, Larking was able to avoid increased fees or taxes for the coming fiscal year.

Danville City Council must still sign off on the proposed budget by the end of June.
