DANVILLE, Va. – A man has been jailed in a Danville shooting.

Willie Lorenozo Sweeney Jr. faces multiple felony counts after police say he shot an acquaintance last week. Police were called to the 1200 block of Stokes Street shortly after noon Wednesday. The victim had been shot once in the arm and suffered what police described as non-life threatening injuries. He was taken to the emergency room by the Danville Life Saving Crew.

The 30-year-old Sweeney has been charged with malicious wounding, shooting in the commission of a felony, use of firearm in commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Investigators say the two men knew each other and that the shooting happened during an argument.

Sweeney is being held in the Danville City Jail.
