HENRY COUNTY, Va. – A Martinsville woman has been sentenced after her granddaughter was found wandering barefoot through the neighborhood in March. Teresa Hill was charged with child neglect after a neighbor found the little girl, alone and wandering through the bushes in her pajamas.

A judge in Henry County sentenced Hill Wednesday to five years in prison. She must also complete two years of supervised probation following her release.

Hill and her husband were caring for their granddaughter at the time of her disappearance. She was charged with endangering the life of a child, a felony.

Hill’s husband, Robert Underwood, is set for trial on November 1.
