(Danville, Va.) — Danville Commonwealth’s Attorney Michael Newman says he plans to seek the death penalty in a capital murder case.

Dana Keith faces nice charges related to a double shooting that claimed the lives of 21-year-old Breia Edmunds and 20-year-old Damarcus Whitehead. Both were found dead inside a car at the intersection of Arnett Boulevard and Glendale Avenue late on the night of June 1. Officers responded to a report of a vehicle crash. On arrival they found a vehicle at rest against a curb. Both were pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot wounds.

A judge on Friday approved a request from Keith’s attorney to appoint a psychologist to examine his client.

Both sides agreed to reschedule the setting of a trial date until docket call on April 30, 2019.
