(Danville, Va.) — Several inches of wet, slushy snow fell in Danville Monday, sticking to trees but not to the streets.
Danville remains under a winter weather advisory Monday night. The heaviest snow tapered off around 4 p.m. and the storm is expected to exit the area overnight.
The Danville Police Department reports slushy road conditions, especially on residential streets. Motorists are urged to slow down and proceed with caution when traveling. The department responded to one weather-related accident Monday afternoon.
Temperatures are expected to remain above freezing until the early morning hours, at which time temperatures will dip to a low of 30 degrees before warming up on Tuesday to the mid-40s. Icy road conditions may develop overnight.
Public Works crews spread salt on main thoroughfares, bridges and overpasses, and along sections of streets that typically are treacherous during snow events. Crews will monitor conditions overnight and respond as needed.
