DANVILLE, Va. – 40-year-old Steve Gunter of Danville was found dead of a gunshot wound Thursday night.

Danville Police responded to the 400 Block of Bradley Road just before 8 p.m. after receiving a report of shots fired in the area. They arrived to find a man lying in the street. The victim, who was later identified as Steve Gunter, was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.

Family members responded to the address and confirmed Gunter’s identity.

43-year-old Jerome Jermaine Davis Jr. of Danville is being sought in the homicide and faces a second-degree murder charge. He was already being sought by police for attempted malicious wounding and firearms charges in an unrelated incident.

Davis (pictured below) should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Danville Police.
