(Danville, Va.) – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for the Danville area through 6:00 Wednesday evening, but the National Weather Service says rising temperatures will ensure that any snow accumulation locally is light.
Blacksburg meteorologist Robert Beasley says a one-to-two inch accumulation is possible in Danville, but unlikely. Due to the warmer temperatures in Southside, he expects the snow to transition to rain before noon.
Beasley stresses that the northern part of Pittsylvania County could get two-to-three inches of snow.
A band of heavy snow began falling last night from Roanoke stretching southeast through southern Bedford County, down across to Concord and Brookneal and back towards Danville and Caswell County.
In Blacksburg, snow was falling at the rate of one-to-two inches per hour at one point Tuesday night. Lynchburg, Bedford, Campbell Co., Appomattox Co., and Buckingham Co. are all included in the Winter Storm Warning.
