ALLEGHANY COUNTY, Va. – A toddler is in critical condition after he was shot in the head Tuesday evening. It happened in Alleghany County, Virginia.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home on Dolly Ann Drive where they found a three-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. The child was airlifted to a trauma center in Roanoke, where he continues to undergo treatment.

A sheriff’s spokesman said the shooting took place about 6 p.m. inside the boy’s home while multiple other people were there.

An investigation into the shooting continues. No additional information was available Wednesday morning.
