DANVILLE, Va. – Roads in and around Danville are slick with the snow/sleet mixture expected to continue until 1 p.m. The accumulation is heaviest on the southern end of town with the frozen mixture sticking on the bypass. The heavy, wet snow continues to fall in and around Danville.

The changeover from rain/sleet to snow began around 8 a.m. The National Weather Service expects the snow to continue through the remainder of the morning. A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for the region through mid-day.

A power outage has been reported in Westover. Danville Utilities reports about 1,200 customers without power. These outages are scattered. The high winds and snow are making repairs difficult.

Public Works snowplow crews are on standby. As the snow accumulates, trucks will be pre-positioned to plow the major thoroughfares. Earlier this morning, crews salted the bridges.
