HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. – Three men have been arrested and charged with the Tuesday night armed robbery of a Halifax County convenience store.
Tymel Thomas Jones, 19, of North Charleston, S.C., Sencere Christopher Hill, 20, of South Boston, and Khameer D’Maury Simmons, 19, of South Boston are each charged with armed robbery and felonious use of a firearm while committing a robbery. Police say Jones is also wanted for murder in connection with a Dec. 9 slaying in Charleston, S.C.
Police say the three entered the Jiffy Store with one of them displaying a handgun. There was an altercation with the store clerk’s husband, who grabbed the gun and attempted to wrest control of the weapon. The masked gunman then took an undisclosed amount of money from the register and the three fled on foot.
Their footprints were tracked through the snow to a home on College Street, where all three were taken into custody.
Officials in South Carolina have already filed an extradition request seeking Jones’s return to stand trial for murder.
