(Danville, Va.) — The Danville fire marshal has determined that a house fire at 118 Johnson Street was set intentionally.
Crews arrived just after 4:30 Saturday morning and found a one-story home with fire visible from the back of the house. All three occupants escaped the burning building unharmed and crews were able to bring the fire under control in about ten minutes.
Damage contained to the left rear of the structure with smoke damage throughout the residence.
The fire marshal has determined that the blaze was the work of an arsonist. The case is still under investigation.
Three engines, one ladder truck, a safety officer and a chief officer responded along with the fire marshal, Danville Police Department and the life saving crew. Units were on scene for an hour-and-a-half.
