DANVILLE, Va. – A winter storm is headed our way over the weekend and the National Weather Service says it will be a mixed bag of snow and sleet, starting late Saturday and continuing through Sunday night.
It’ll be cold Saturday, with a high only reaching the upper 30s. That will set the stage for the mixed precipitation that will follow.
The current forecast track has Danville with a 30% chance of snow after midnight Saturday. There’s a near 100% chance of snow on Sunday, followed by sleet. The sleet is expected to turn back into snow late Sunday night before ending. Temperatures will drop to the mid-20s Sunday night and will only reach a high of 40 on Monday.
Weather models continue to suggest a major winter storm coming up from the south Sunday into Monday with multi-day impacts for much of the Mid-Atlantic region.
