A winter storm warning is still in effect until 7am Monday, January 17th for the city of Danville and surrounding areas. A state of emergency is also in effect. Snowfall began to transition to sleet around 10:15am. The precipitation is expected to transition into freezing rain later in the day.

Public Works crews began clearing major thoroughfares at 9:15am and will continue to do so until the snowfall ceases. At that point, they will make a final pass on main roads and move to collector streets.
Danville Utilities power and light crews are prepared to work staggered, 16-hour shifts. Also, 26 electric crew members and three support personnel from JEA, a Florida-based utility, are in Danville to assist. Customers whose residence or business is without power should call Danville Utilities to report the outage at 434-773-8300.
