(Danville, Va.) — Danville Utilities workers and a contract crew continue to work this morning to restore power outages. 2,500 customers were without power at the height of the storm, but that number had been reduced to about 200 by Sunday night. Danville got about two-and-a-half inches of snow, compared to the 14 inches that fell on Wytheville. Rising temperatures made for a quick melt in the city, with most of the snow gone by late Sunday afternoon.

Appalachian Power reported thousands of outages across southwest Virginia and nearly 9,000 in Henry County, where the snow forced the postponement of the race at Martinsville Speedway. Crews worked through the night Saturday to clear the track but race officials made the call to delay the race until Monday. The First Energy 250 will start at 11:00 today, with the STP 500 following at 2:00.
