(Greensboro, N.C.) – A traffic stop in Greensboro Tuesday afternoon ended in an officer-involved shooting on Battleground Avenue at Edney Ridge Road.
A homicide detective tried to pull over an Acura in the parking lot of a shopping center because the car had been spotted at a shooting that happened the night before that left a 16-year-old girl in critical condition.
Three men were in the Acura. Two jumped out of the car and ran. A K9 officer and his dog caught up with one of the men. Police say the man pulled a handgun from his waist and pointed it at the officer, who fired several rounds, striking him at least once.
Police say the man was taken to a local hospital and is currently listed in guarded condition. The officer and his dog were not injured.
