UPDATE: 21-year-old Jamal L. Brandon surrendered to authorities shortly after noon on Tuesday and is being held in the Halifax County Adult Detention Center without bond.
SOUTH BOSTON, Va. – South Boston Police are investigating a homicide.
21-year-old Kendall N. Dixon of Halifax died in a Monday morning shooting at the Taylor Lofts apartments in South Boston.
South Boston Police say the shooter was 21-year-old Jamal L. Brandon of Halifax Road in South Boston. Brandon is in custody on a first-degree murder charge.
According to the South Boston News and Record, Dixon was shot with a handgun outside the apartment building on Ferry Street at around 11 a.m. Monday.
South Boston Police responded to a report of shots fired. On arrival, they learned that Dixon had been taken to the emergency department at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital, where he died.
Officers recovered spent pistol casings outside the apartment building.
Investigators said Dixon suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
