RINGGOLD, Va. – Officials have yet to release the name of the pilot killed in a plane crash in Ringgold two weeks ago.

The single-engine Cessna crashed shortly after takeoff from Danville Regional Airport and was found in a wooded area off the Milton Highway near the Danville Fairgrounds.

The pilot was the only person on board and died instantly.

The NTSB spent several days at the crash site and is expected to release a preliminary report late this month. A final report could take a year or longer.
