(Danville, Va.) — The Danville Fire Department responded to a brush fire at 393 Barringer Drive just before 7 p.m. Friday.
Crews arrived and found a large field on fire. The crew of Engine 7 pulled a fire hose and began attacking the fire.
Additional manpower was called to the scene due to the large size of the fire and the windy weather conditions. Firefighters from the Ringgold Volunteer Fire Department and the State Forestry Department were called to assist.
The fire was contained and determined to be under control at 7:52 pm. 32 firefighters remained on scene for two-and-a-half hours dousing hot spots.
The Forestry Department used a bulldozer to cut a fire line around the 5-acre fire.
