ALTON, Va. – After a rocky relationship with Pittsylvania County, The Blue Ridge Rock Festival will change venues – and counties – for the 2022 celebration.
The upcoming festival will be held September 8-11 at the Virginia International Raceway in Halifax County.
Tickets went on sale this past Friday. Blue Ridge Rock Festival is selling camping and festival passes that allow festival-goers to stay at the track for the duration of the event, in recreational vehicles or as campers. No hotel accommodations will be offered through the raceway.
Last year’s gathering drew crowds of more than 30,000 daily to Blairs, Virginia; however, there were problems with parking, camping and crowd control.
Organizers promise a bigger and better festival in 2022, with 169 artists playing on five stages over four days.
The festival started in 2017 in Lynchburg and moved to the Blue Ridge Amphitheater in Blairs, off U.S. 29, in 2021.
