HENRY COUNTY, Va. – A murder charge has now been filed in a Henry County shooting that happened back on February 18.
The victim, who has been hospitalized for nearly a month, has died. 42-year-old Ray Durflinger Jr. died while undergoing treatment at Baptist Hospital in North Carolina
23-year-old Jacob Raleigh Robertson had been charged with malicious wounding; however, that charge has now been upgraded to first-degree murder.
Robertson is being held in the Henry County Jail without bond.
The shooting happened shortly after 1 a.m. on Friday, February 18 in the 900 block of Southland Drive in Martinsville.
Ddeputies were called to the home and found Durflinger with a “gunshot wound to his abdomen.” He was taken to SOVAH Health Martinsville and later airlifted to a North Carolina hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. He died on Monday.
