House of Hope in Danville, says they plan to expand the homeless shelter to meet what they see as a high demand for a place to stay. Currently, the homeless shelter at Patton and South Ridge streets can house 16 people, but they say that isn’t enough. The planned project will more than double House of Hope’s capacity, to about 40. Solex Architecture of Danville is designing the project and the city is seeking bids. Federal American Rescue Plan Act funding from the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development will pay for much of it.
