Virginia has a new anti-hazing law that is named for a Virginia Commonwealth University freshman who died while pledging a fraternity. According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch the bill named for Adam Oakes passed unanimously in the Senate and was 2 votes short of passing unanimously in the House. Colleges are required to provide student organizations with in-person education on hazing, alcohol intoxication and their school’s policies. Chapter advisors are also required to undergo training.
