The Better Business Bureau reports a Henry County man lost $18,000 after a scammer pretended to be the man’s brother-in-law on Facebook Messenger and told him about a government grant. According to WFXR the scammer was impersonating a government official and asked the man to send cash, gift cards and personal information in order to “secure” his grant. According to the nonprofit scammers will call, email, or use social media to target victims.
