The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources is urging people to be aware of tiny turkeys while out walking or driving. They are often near nesting areas in wooded or grassy regions along with thinned pine forests.
Officials say since they haven’t yet developed flight feathers they can’t escape easily when faced with danger. The baby turkeys will have their flight capabilities in a few weeks.
