Attorney General Jason Miyares announces Virginia will receive $70 million as part of a multi-state lawsuit settlement with Teva Pharmaceuticals, one of America’s largest opioid manufacturers. The lawsuit was filed in 2019 under former Attorney General Mark Herring and claimed Teva promoted drugs originally used in cancer patients for use by non-cancer patients. The suit also claimed Teva deceptively marketed opioids by downplaying the risk of addiction and overstating their benefits.
