The Danville Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating and identifying both a vehicle and several individuals believed to be involved with a pair of shootings Monday afternoon. Just after 5 pm police responded to shots fired calls in the 100 Block of North Avenue. During the course of the investigation authorities confirmed a gold SUV drove past a group of individuals and the two occupants opened fire. One member of the group returned fire. No injuries were reported. The individual who returned fire has been identified as 18-year-old Danville resident, Xzvaion Smith, he has been charged for attempted malicious wounding, shooting at an occupied vehicle, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Authorities are searching for him. Detectives are searching for gold SUV which appears to be a GMC Terrain or possibly a Chevrolet Equinox. A second shooting incident occurred in the 2100 block of riverside just hours later around 7pm where gunfire was exchanged between two vehicles while sitting at a stoplight. Investigators believe the gold SUV was involved in this incident as well. Neither of these were random acts as it appears those involved knew each other. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Smith, the SUV or its occupants are asked to contact the Danville Police Department or Crimestoppers.
