The interim Pittsylvania County Administrator, Clarence Monday is stepping down from his role. Monday submitted his letter of resignation, which is effective 30 days or sooner, with collaboration from the Board of Supervisors. Monday had been in the Administrator role since February after the termination of David Smitherman after a change in leadership on the Board. The reason for Monday’s departure is his home sold quicker than expected. He was hoping to sell by years end but with the real estate markets as wild as they are his home sold within a day of listing. The Board of Supervisors had already begun the search for a permanent replacement, utilizing a consultant, the board plans to review applicants beginning on September 12th. Board of Supervisors Chairman Vic Ingram wished Monday the best in his new venture and said, “Since returning to Pittsylvania County on an interim basis, Clarence Monday has been a real asset.” Pittsylvania County has an executive team that will continue to lead county operations while the search for a permanent replacement is ongoing.
