The Danville Industrial Development Authority approved in a meeting Tuesday to accept almost 7 acres of land along Memorial Drive to bring a new attraction to the White Mill revitalization effort. The parcel includes the canal area where the city plans to turn the water way into a white water run used for recreation as well as training first responders. This move will not change plans to breathe life back into the old mill building, the $85 million agreement with the Alexander Company will move forward with construction expected to start later this year. Other portions of the 7 acres will add the site the Danville’s Riverwalk trail as well as connecting the walking bridge that crosses the Dan River once its renovation is complete.
