The White House has announced a tentative deal to avoid the rail worker strike, according to the Washington Post. A statement released by President Joe Biden on Thursday morning said the agreement would insure “ better pay, improved working conditions, and peace of mind around their health care costs” for the workers.
A potential deal would avoid a strike that was set to begin at 12:01 am on Friday. Amtrak announced on Wednesday that all long distance train trips would be cancelled starting on Thursday. Those cancellations directly affected the Amtrak station in Danville.
