The Virginia State Police is investigating an accident that occurred Friday evening that resulted in a fatality in Franklin County. The incident took place along Route 615 near Route 220, where a 1989 Toyota pickup truck was heading in an eastbound direction. The vehicle driven by 20-year-old Nolan Dean Young went off the right-hand side of the road where it overturned and struck a tree. According to a statement from Virginia State Police Sgt. Rick Garletts, Young was not wearing his seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. Alcohol is believed to have played a role in the crash, but the investigation is still ongoing.
