It’s with a great deal of pride and pleasure we introduce our next WBTM/Danville Dental Associates Citizen of the Month…Mr. Robbie Woodall…letter submitted by the Danville Lifesaving Crew Board of Directors and written by Chris Eastwood, Vice Chairman.

What most people do not know is that Robbie is driven by a deep desire to serve others and has an incredibly generous spirit. He strives to live a life with purpose that will have a positive impact on the community and make the Dan River Region a better place for all its citizens.

One of the biggest ways Robbie gives back to his community is as a lifetime member of the Danville Lifesaving Crew, where he has served since 1987. For over sixteen years he has served as its Chief. Many would say Robbie is the heart and soul of the Danville Lifesaving Crew. In his role, he leads a group of 75 volunteer EMTs and Paramedics, as well as paid staff, ensuring that all emergency calls are responded to 24/7, 365 days a year. Through his leadership, Robbie embodies the mission of the Danville Lifesaving Crew and has a vision for its future. Many of the programs and facilities in existence today are a result of Robbie’s forethought and vision.

The “Crew” is Danville’s primary EMS provider, responding to over 15,000 calls annually. That, in and of itself, is a remarkable endeavor. But, the DLSC is also part of the REACH INITIATIVE, a regional effort to provide community paramedics and community health workers to increase patient access to services that help them better manage their chronic conditions and connect them to resources that address social determinants of health, all leading to improved outcomes. The DLSC and its programs would not be the same without Robbie’s leadership.

In addition, Robbie has also established the “Robert Woodall Junior Charitable Fund” to support local non-profits in their efforts to create positive change in our community. By supporting these organizations in their endeavors, Robbie helps to facilitate meaningful, positive change that will affect generations to come.

As a strong leader, who realizes this responsibility to be a dynamic citizen, Robbie not only exemplifies true citizenship, but he also inspires others to be good citizens as well. We can think of no better recipient for this award.
