Amthor International in Gretna announced a major expansion on Wednesday. The expansion is an estimated $30 million capital plan that will include a $4 million investment by Amthor that will create 75 to 90 new jobs.

With the expansion Amthor will construct a second building in the Gretna Industrial Park that will be 33,000 square feet. The new building will be where the company mounts their tanks on trucks.

In this new facility they’ll be able to build a minimum of 15 truck tanks at any given time. The new building will provide a minimum of 60 new jobs for Amthor.

Next to the new building will be a large parking lot that will have 178 parking spots for truck chassis. This will allow Amthor to have room for 200 truck chassis at any given time.

The new building will also allow Amthor to use their current building for producing more tanks. The additional space will allow for eight to ten more tanks to be produced at a time.

“Our company has grown so much exponentially, globally not only here domestically but also on the global market, with government contracts, military contracts things like that, so be able to handle this growth for the fifth generation I wanted to come up with a project that made sense,” said Brian Amthor, Executive Vice President for Amthor International.

The new jobs will be mostly comprised of welders, electricians, and mechanics. The company expects to break ground on the new project in March 2023.
