Update: According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, a spokesperson for the Ford Motor Company said the company had not made a site selection for the battery plant. The statement came after a story from the paper on Thursday morning that said the company had already chosen the Southern Virginia Mega Site at Berry Hill before Governor Youngkin nixed the plant over concerns of Chinese influence.

Previous Story:

The Ford Motor Company had selected the Southern Virginia Mega Site at Berry Hill  for a new electric battery plant and had allegedly notified Virginia, according to a new article from the Richmond Times-Dispatch.  The article also says that Ford was already working on the site according to two people who spoke to the paper anonymously.

Governor Glenn Youngkin nixed the plant earlier this week over concerns of Chinese influence and alleged that these facts were “fundamentally wrong” while speaking to the paper. The proposed plant was set to bring 2,500 jobs to the southside.

Earlier this week Youngkin’s office said that a site for the plant hadn’t been chosen yet and that the state had removed itself from consideration.
