A Halifax County man has been sentenced for indecent liberties with a 14-year-old boy. 50-year-old Matthew Alheimer was found guilty in November and was sentenced on Thursday.

According to the Gazette-Virginian, Alheimer admitted that he had previously lied and admitted to sexually abusing the victim. Alheimer received a sentence of 10 years, but seven years and two months were suspended, meaning Alheimer will serve two years and 10 months of prison time. He will also be placed on five years of probation after release and has to register as a sex offender.
