A Danville man is facing charges of second-degree murder after a woman was found dead at the Astoria Hotel on Sunday afternoon. 49-year-old Avery Demetrie Kirby is being charged in the death of 61-year-old Dale Marie Jones after she died from blunt force trauma. Kirby and Jones had a history, according to warrants

According to the Danville Register and Bee, Kirby said to police that he knew the victim was dead and still left the scene. Kirby was placed at the scene by surveillance video and left the scene in a black SUV before he was found at his residence later. Kirby will have his preliminary hearing on May 1.
