Gas prices across the southside and Virginia rose again this week. The average price for gas across the state is up nine cents to $3.53 a gallon, while the average price across the country went up over seven cents to $3.67.
In the southside, Danville’s average price climbed ten cents to $3.39, while in Pittsylvania County the average is up five cents to $3.44.
In Martinsville the average price went up eight cents to $3.40 and in Henry County the price also rose eight cents to $3.43.
The highest prices in the southside are currently in Halifax County as prices have climbed 14 cents to $3.57 a gallon.
According to AAA, the main reason for the rise in prices is high cost of oil, which is hovering in the low $80s per barrel. The national average has risen daily since March 29.
