Virginia State Police is investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash in Halifax County. The crash occurred April 17, 2023 at 7:50 am on Route 58, less than a mile east of Ramble Rd.
A 2004 Honda CRV was traveling west on Route 58 when it ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree. The driver, David M. Diehl, 46, of Clarksville, died at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt.
The crash remains under investigation. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
Diehl was a teacher at Halifax County High School. On Monday night the Halifax County School Board had a moment of silence in his memory.
