The 11th annual Make Danville Shine Campaign will begin with a kickoff event this Saturday with the season opener of the Danville Farmer’s Market. The expo will be open from 8am-noon at the Community Market. During the expo citizens will be able to meet and talk with experts in a variety of fields including home repair and maintenance with a variety of giveaways and opportunities for discounts. Children will also be able to enjoy crafts and activities during the event. The expo is free and open to the public.
The month long program is meant to encourage residents to pinpoint maintenance, upkeep, and beautification projects around their homes. It also suggests helping other residents who may not be able to maintain their own properties due to age or disability.
On Tuesday Danville Mayor Alonzo Jones declared the month of may as “Make Danville Shine Month”, and Danville Public Works will be waiving certain fees and restrictions with regards to yard waste, bulk debris, tire disposal, and appliance pickups.
