Delegate Danny Marshall praised the casino and the projected impact it will have on Danville.
“1,350 jobs for our citizens, investments of $650 million”, said Marshall, “taxes from Caesars on gambling will help increase revenue for Virginia and Danville. They estimated that 1.5 million people will visit Caesars and will remain here for one and a half days. One and a half days will be an overnight stay at one of our hotels, they will go to our restaurants, they will buy from our retailers and that’s an additional tax revenue for our city. This will help Danville grow.”
Danville Mayor Alonzo Jones also praised Caesars for being a great partner.
“It was recommended that Caesars temporary casino may open by July 1 and here we are in May. I say that because Caesars has done everything they said they were going to do for the City of Danville,” said Jones.
Caesars is still planning to open a full casino and resort in Danville that will include a 500-room hotel in late 2024.
