The group Mothers Stronger Twogether held a gun violence awareness event on Friday in downtown Danville. During the event Danville Police Chief Scott Booth made a strong pledge of trying to stop gun violence in the city.

“The men and women of the Danville Police Department, many of whom stand with me today, will do everything within our power to reduce the impact of gun violence in our community and save every life that we can,” said Booth,

Three men have lost their lives in Danville this year due to gun violence. The department recently conducted an operation that focused on violent offenders and firearm related offenses. Operation Blitz resulted in the arrest of 25 people and 31 criminal charges.
