Danville Public Schools has received $50 million in construction grants for improvements to three schools. The School Construction Assistant Program grants were awarded to Danville Public Schools by the Virginia Board of Education in May.

$23 million was awarded for George Washington High School, $13.5 million will go to the John M. Langston campus, and $13 million was awarded for G.L.H. Johnson Elementary School.

Johnson Elementary will be renamed Arnett Hills Elementary School and will be able to hold around 600 students with the improvements. The grant for the Langston campus will allow it to be the new home of Galileo Magnet High Schools, as well as a new middle school STEM Academy.

GW High School will be getting a new gym, an updated entrance, an updated second floor that’s expected to be finished this summer, an updated Career and Technical Education building, and more.
