Four Henry County Sheriff’s Deputies were suspended on Friday night over a use of force incident at the detention center. The incident occurred on July 1 when a person was arrested for being drunk in public. 

According to new Sheriff Wayne Davis, once the subject was inside the jail he refused to change into his jail uniform. The situation escalated and the deputies responded by using force on the subject.

The subject was injured in the incident and taken to Sovah Health Martinsville for treatment and was released. After reviewing the incident Davis asked Virginia State Police to review the incident.

The four deputies have been suspended without pay pending the outcome of the investigation. No identities have been released at this time.
