The Virginia Department of Transportation is advising the community of upcoming milling and paving work that will begin next week.   Crews will begin repaving activities August 6th and run through Thursday August 10th.

The resurfacing will take place between Franklin Place and Hodnett’s Mill Road and will be done overnight from 6pm – 6am.  Residents are asked not to park on Main Street those nights so all areas can be paved.

The surface is 14 years old and was last repaved back in 2009.  VDOT had set aside $6.4 million for paving efforts in areas around Pittsylvania County and the City of Danville.  The Main Street Chatham portion is estimated to cost $566,000 and is being funded by the Federal State of Good Repair (SGR) allocations.
