A new non-profit athletics organization is hoping to partner with Pittsylvania County Schools. Off Season Executive Director, Delilah White, gave a presentation during Tuesday nights Pittsylvania County School Board meeting on how they plan to help local athletes.

Off Season is designed to elevate the skills, performance, and outcomes of athletes in Pittsylvania County and Danville. The non-profit organization is registered as a 501(c)(3).

Off Season has offered to develop a sports development program for middle school students in Pittsylvania County. The organization plans to apply for a grant from the Community Foundation of the Dan River Region to help fund the program.

The Warriors Program will be an after school program that is slated to begin in January 2024. The program will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 6 pm and would allow middle school students to participate in football, basketball, and soccer development training for one hour with a sports trainer.

After training students will receive a snack and learn about sports nutrition. For the last hour students will complete one hour of academic and personal development activities with a certified educator.

The program will be offered at each middle school in Pittsylvania County for one consecutive month in the spring and fall. There is a limit of 15 students that can participate in each sports track per school, meaning 45 students total per school.

The new program comes as Pittsylvania County Schools is launching middle school athletics this school year. Off Season says they expect to hear about the grant they applied for in the fall.

However, if the grant is not approved Off Season will still offer the Warriors Program for $80 per student. For more information on Off Season click here.
