A fire on Friday morning forced an evacuation of a South Boston nursing home. According to the Gazette-Virginian, South Boston Health & Rehab had to evacuate after a fire began in the main electrical room and something exploded causing two doors to blow open.
The fire has now been contained. The facility said in a Facebook post that all residents were safe. A reunification center was set up at South Boston Church of God located at 3000 Halifax Road.
The fire being in the main electrical room caused the facility to cut the power to the entire building. The damages to the electrical system is expected to be millions of dollars in losses.
