A man is wanted after a homicide in Axton on Friday night. According to BTW 21, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a man went to Sovah Health Danville with a gunshot wound. 24-year-old Antwain Hampton later died from his injuries.

The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office notified the Henry County Sheriff’s Office about the incident that reportedly took place in the 7000 block of Axton Road. The SWAT team then executed a search warrant at the residence that was vacant at the time.

The investigation determined that Hampton and 33-year-old Akeem Clark of Axton had an altercation prior to the shooting. Clark has been charged with second degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
