City Manager Ken Larking announced today that Deputy Police Chief Chris Wiles will serve as interim police chief when Police Chief Scott Booth departs in October.
Wiles has served 30 years in the Danville Police Department, joining the department on Sept. 1, 1993. He was named deputy police chief last December. Prior to his promotion, he served at the
rank of major, and he commanded the operations division.
Larking also announced today that there will be a national search for the city’s next police chief. He expects the search to be completed by the end of the year.
The announcements come after Booth accepted the position of police chief for the City of Roanoke last week. Booth’s last day as police chief in Danville will be Oct. 31.
