The Martinsville Police Department is investigating a Saturday night homicide. Officers responded to the 1400 block of Fayette Street at 11:43 pm for a report of shots fired.

When on scene officers were directed to a truck that had gone over a guardrail and down a hill.  The driver of the vehicle was dead when officers arrived.

According to police, the vehicle had been the intended target of gunshots. The victim was identified as 47-year-old Antoine Jermaine Preston of Martinsville. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Detectives are still collecting evidence and no arrests have been made. Anyone with information should contact the Martinsville Police Department at 276-403-5330.
