The pilot who died in a plane crash in Ringgold in February 2022, had been exposed to carbon monoxide. According to the NTSB, the pilot was exposed to undetected engine exhaust in the cockpit, which caused him to crash shortly after takeoff.

The pilot was a 23-year-old man who was conducting first solo flight for Sol Aerial Services LLC.  He was reportedly conducting aerial surveying when the twin engine plane went down off the Milton Highway in Ringgold. The pilot was the only person in the plane.
